Book: They Fired The First Shot 2012

They Fired The First Shot 2012
http://www.medjugorje.com/medjugorje-today/current-information/1397-they-fired-the-first-shot-2012-spreading-like-a-fire-across-the-nation.html
This book is quite good and will make you rethink your own paradigm of life.
A new book that is a shocking, sobering, and disconcerting look at what lies ahead of all of us in the very near future if we, as a people, do not summon the will to change our ways, rejecting the increasingly oppressive measures being taken against us in our nation. Based in real facts that are just now coming to light but woven together as only A Friend of Medjugorje can do with the wisdom from Our Lady’s messages, the new book entitled, They Fired the First Shot 2012, is a revelation for our time. As one who had a preview of the book said, “I don’t feel that I am the same person I was yesterday after reading this book. Everything has changed…myself included.” ...
Our Lady said on February 2, 2012:
“…pride has come to rule…”
They Fired the First Shot 2012 gives the blueprint of how evil intends to rule. The plans have been made. The implementation is not just around the corner, it is here.

So, is this a book about Medj. or is it about the way things are shaping up in the world? I've been rather cautious about books and writings on Medj recently given this: http://www.medjugorjetoday.tv/8956/mirj ... edjugorje/

It's about the way the world's secularism is fulfilling the dire prophecies of Medjugorje as well as other Marian apparitions and the emphasis on personal conversion, which is consistent with all the messages of Marian apparitions. Pray and seek personal conversion. On other books: She was referencing some of the crazier writings out there, not this book.

She also made a very relevant statement.
The visionary also warns against television which she encourages people to turn off, or least make sure does not come to be an obstruction to prayer:
“Television is often against life, against children, against love, but we can turn it off! Television is an excuse not to pray, but when someone wants to pray, it is not always an excuse. If you do not have a tv in the house, you will find another excuse not to pray” Mirjana says.

The Papal Lenten retreat by Card. Ravasi called TV the moloch in our homes. I'm very glad to be TV free and plan to stay that way.

I now see that this book is put out by Caritas, which given it's relationship with the Bishop down there and even with the official Medjugorje shrine, seems very much to fall under the category of "crazier writings." Plus their "Patriotic Rosary" is a disgusting desecration of the Holy Rosary.

ooh, Caritas. Red flag.
But some truths I am sure are there, booting the TV being a good one.

The TV comment came from one of the seers from Medj. who also issued the warning against books put out about the events. It's not from the book.

Thanks for the ht bdouglas. Who or what is Caritas?

The book was given to me by a friend who found it immensely helpful to him. Taking a second look, I do not see an imprimatur or nihil obstat so obviously it's a personal rather than a Church approved book. My friend found the book to be helpful because he didn't see how his involvement with secular activities was helping the destruction of his own family-- so in that particular case, it resulted in a return to the Sacraments and to changing his activities to pursue God rather than manmade self-indulgences.

Please share why you feel this way? I'm not familiar with this type of rosary.

Caritas is a group in Birmingham, AL that is run by a fellow who has a great devotion (it seems) to the apparitions under investigation in Medj. However, his group seems to have a number of cult-like aspects and the Bishop of Birmingham has forbidden priests to say Mass there and declares the group a business and not Catholic. Mother Angelica and EWTN discouraged people from visiting as well. Here is the Medjugorje.ws site which has some info on the problems there: http://www.medjugorje.ws/en/articles/ca ... irmingham/ One of the seers from Medjugorje does visit, and I'm not sure why or what she knows about them, but it is not the seer who was cautioning against books about the apparitions.

Their "patriotic rosary" is here: http://www.patrioticrosary.com/ As with a number of their statements, they have a very protestant sense of many things, and I think that this is just another example of their wrong thinking. Plus it's insulting the Rosary. The biggest problem is the inclusion of heretical songs and quotes. America the Beautiful is a hymn to the heretical notion of Manifest Destiny and The Battle Hymn of the Republic is the deification of the Army of the Potomac (bad enough) and Lincoln (worse still), but it is written by the notorious heretic Julia Ward Howe. There is nothing wrong at all with offering a rosary for the conversion of this country, we need it! But to do so in such an Americanist and flat out idolatrous way? America is the greatest font of poison in the world today, why praise it?

Much appreciated, bdouglass for the referenced info. That helps. When groups form without proper Church oversight, cults can be a huge temptation. It's one reason why the Plain Catholics prefer to function within the regular local parish: to stay within proper Church oversight and avoid personality cults.
Re your quote

On this I will disagree. There are massive human rights violations in many countries where there is a socialist/communist government. IMO the seven deadly sins, satan, sarcastic journos promoting that sin, and narcissism poison the world where ever we live and in whatever country exists.

We should properly praise God and work as salt and light to promote the Truth of Jesus Christ and the Deposit of Faith.

No problem, with the research. Yes, personality cults are indeed a very dangerous thing, no matter how well meaning they get started!

By saying that the US is the greatest font of poison, I don't seek to deny the evil of the many Socialist/Islamic governments in the world. Only that our cultural spreading of pornography, secularism, abortion, contraception, and acceptance of perversion is unmatched by anyone. To look at what the State Dept tries to shove down countries' throats in just the realm of contraception/abortion...it's so bad. I don't think even the USSR at the height of their power has anything on us. The platform that the US has both culturally and governmentaly/militarily makes us very dangerous to the souls of many. Not just the bodies of those on the wrong end of Obama's drone murder list.
